In a large frying pan, brown and crumble the ground beef along with the diced onion. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Drain excess grease and set aside.

Using the same pan, fry the bacon for approximately 5 minutes per side until halfway cooked. Season with salt and pepper, then transfer bacon to paper towels to remove excess grease.

In a 9x13 inch aluminum baking pan, layer half of the cooked ground beef evenly across the bottom. Spread one can of baked beans over the beef. Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella on top, then arrange half of the partially cooked bacon slices over the cheese.

Repeat the layering sequence with the remaining ground beef, baked beans, mozzarella cheese, and bacon to complete the casserole.

Cover the assembled pan with aluminum foil and bake on a preheated grill at 350°F (177°C) for about 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbling.
